Current Students

VSTP applications are accepted annually from UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine DVM students in DVM years one and two (V1 and V2). Students applying in DVM year two (V2) must apply for a PhD program at the time of VSTP application. Students applying in year one (V1) should not apply to a PhD program at the time of VSTP application.

Please indicate which graduate group(s)/program(s) most closely align with your research interests. The choice you list in your application is not binding and may change as your research interests evolve. A complete list of graduate programs may be found here. 
 

List all your research experiences (dates, name of institution, time commitment (total hours worked), and mentor).
Example: 9/1/23 – 5/1/25, UC Davis, 780 hours, Dr. Bethany Cummings.

Continuing student are REQUIRED to submit a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation from research scientists that address your research experience and/or potential. We will accept a maximum of 4 letters.

VSTP program statement of intent (7,500 character limit, including spaces). The statement should include your research background, interests, research experience, reasons for pursuing a dual degree program, and contributions to community. For contributions to community, you may include any community service or outreach activities; opportunities relevant to your academic journey; and/or how you envision contributing to community with your DVM/PhD.
Submit a resume or curriculum vitae and list any publications (accepted, submitted, or in review.
